2. m. shrub of the family of the Berberidáceas, as a meter in height, with leaves trasovadas, pestañosas and sawn, tripartidas thorns, yellow flowers in hanging bunches and berries red and sour. It is common in the mountains of Spain, and is cultivated in gardens. Their wood, of yellow color, is used in joinery, and the fruit is edible.
