terrazgueria
  37

At the beginning of the twentieth century in Colombia the agricultural property was only in the hands of a few. The Indians suffered more than any other social sector this situation, since their lands were in the hands of the landowners who had to pay days of unpaid work, the right to plant a plot in lands which were considered to be property of a hacienda. This practice was known as the terrazgueria, and was common in the Cauca and Tolima.
